A Collector's Story

Following the desert’s space

Memory as an expression

A house where the desert begins at the door. A pink onyx fireplace anchors the room. A rust Moroccan rug covers the floor, tribal masks hang on the wall, and agave and cactus stand behind floor-to-ceiling glass. The result is a residence gathered slowly, on the vintage sensibility of the 1970s and the craft traditions of several continents.

Into this setting, Joana Santos Barbosa placed four InsidherLand creations, chosen to listen before speaking. By the window, the Na Pali three-seat sofa, in saffron velvet, turns its back to the room and faces the desert. That back is the surprise: upholstered in long, sculpted channels, framed by walnut, made to be seen. Across the rug, the Niemeyer armchair in copper velvet rests on dark brown oak legs, its curves unhurried, nothing forced.

Between them, the Na Pali coffee table anchors the centre, glass over faceted wood, holding the reflection of the fire. Beside the armchair stands a similar Na Pali side table. Handcrafted in Portugal by master craftsmen, each piece was designed to sit alongside objects with a past.
