HOUSE IN COACHELLA VALLEY

A quiet luxury lifestyle and architecture

ARCHITECTURE, INTERIORS, FURNITURE & ACCESSORIES BY JOANA SANTOS BARBOSA

The House in Coachella Valley is a conceptual residence nestled amidst the enchanting arid wonders of Southern California in USA.
The architecture, interiors, furniture and accessories designed by Joana Santos Barbosa, create an atmosphere that radiates laid-back vibes and effortlessly captures the desert light while embracing the surrounding natural landscape.

To the north, stone walls anchor the structure into the mountainous slope, forming a connection with the desert landscape, while facing south, high ceilings unveil a panoramic view, erasing boundaries with sliding glass panels that invite the desert light into the space. The architectural serenity unfolds with a gentle rhythm in which rustic stone walls, extended wood ceilings, and cream ceramic floors blur lines between inside and outside, creating a harmonious flow. As an extension to the interiors, the terraces beckon inhabitants to immerse themselves in the landscape.

Living Room I Framing the Desert

The living room unveils a scene of tranquil sophistication, where an air of relaxation intertwines with organic shapes and comfortable textures. Natural materials, such as marbles and wood, establish an earthly connection, while anthracite metallic windows frame cactus, boulders, and palm trees in the mountainous setting.

At the center, the Powell mirror in Estremoz marble, polished brass, and bronze mirror stands atop a rustic stone wall, reflecting the arid landscape. Beneath it, the Tree Branches long bench in hand-hammered brass and Mongolian white fur pays homage to nature.

The Niemeyer II round sofa, in cotton and wool braided fabric with a Sycamore wood base, invites relaxation, while the Arizona coffee table in Travertine marble and brushed brass echoes the tranquility of the surroundings.

A quiet nook with the Niemeyer II armchair and stool forms a calm reading space, complemented by the Palm side table with a Carrara Viola marble top.

The Foz armchair, in textured wool boucle and brushed brass, stands as a focal point, rotating towards the large terrace and panorama of the valley, erasing the distinctions between inside and outside.

"A seamless expression of luxury interior design, where furniture, light, and architecture exist in harmony."

Dining Room | Above Untouched Nature

Flowing from the serene living room, the dining area interacts with the surroundings in a distinct manner. Framed by the minimalist architecture, this space leans towards the vast California desert landscape, as an observer who hovers above the untouched nature.

At the center, the Utopia dining table in sycamore wood and bronze brass borrows the exterior’s hues, surrounded by Arches and Arches II chairs in walnut wood and brushed brass.

Above the fireplace, the Arizona mirror in Estremoz marble and polished brass reflects the outdoors scenery, while the Navajo Canyon cabinet in walnut and sycamore woods brings Arizona’s rugged cliffs into the room.

Lighting the room, two minimalist Seagram wall lamps, sculpted from Estremoz marble and brass blades, infuse luxury and sophistication.

The dining and living areas merge, inviting moments of togetherness amid materials and textures that blend with the outdoors.
