Haussmann Mornings

French Elegance

A classic parisian interior with InsidherLand designs

A Haussmann apartment in Paris, where the ceilings rise high above white plaster mouldings and the herringbone floors still remember every footstep, and where the light arrives each morning as it has for a century, soft and golden and in no hurry. Into these rooms Joana Santos Barbosa brought InsidherLand creations, handcrafted in Portugal by master craftsmen using traditional techniques, as if a little of the south had crossed the country to wake gently in the north.

The day begins in the bedroom, in a palette of cream, nude and natural brass, where the bed, wrapped in bouclé and resting on its brushed brass base, holds the room the way a slow morning holds a sleeper. Beside it stand the Alentejo side tables, their Estremoz marble resting on cast brass bases, patinated and shaped by hand to recall the cork-oak canopies of southern Portugal, and above them the Looshaus wall lamps, in Carrara marble and brass, let a warm glow drift across the mouldings.

Then the light wanders on, through the doorway and into the salon, until it finds a corner by the window, where the Niemeyer armchair in deep moss velvet, its legs in translucent dark brown oak, waits beside the fireplace with the ease of a piece that was always meant to be there, and a golden retriever, it seems, agrees.
